Upcoming Art Exhibit Explores Gender Norms and Masculinity

Thistles, from Eunuch Tapestries, 2016 by artist Zachari Logan.

A new exhibit opening at the Thames Art Gallery later this month delves into gender and masculinity norms.

Zachari Logan’s Cultivation Blues references Western art history, self-portraiture, and emphasizes the viewpoint of ‘human as nature.’

Logan is best known for drawings that combine hyper-realistic flora and the male body on large scale paper works. Cultivation Blues will present examples of this and his work in other media including ceramics, painting, work on fabric, and installation.

Poetry from Logan’s recent publication “green.” will also be incorporated into the exhibition.

An opening reception is being held Friday, July 17 starting at 7pm. Logan will be on hand to describe some of his work.

Cultivation Blues will be exhibited through October 11.
