The draft concept’s proposed land use plan is structured around five activity areas (A, B,
C, D, and E) focused on cultural, heritage, commercial, social, and recreational uses.

Residents interested in voicing their opinions on the future of Wallaceburg’s south side will get the chance this weekend.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is holding an in-person open house on Saturday, to provide the public with a chance to comment on a draft concept report, which details potential redevelopment plans for the south side of the town, including part of the downtown core.

The report proposes several new amenities as part of the redevelopment including a new waterfront park, a new community and cultural space, and a mobility network that would provide safe and efficient routes for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists in the concept area.

Saturday’s open house will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion at 52 Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg, from 10 a.m. until noon. An in-person workshop will also take place in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Those who cannot make it in person can still voice their opinion by taking part in an online survey that is currently available on the Let’s Talk CK website. The survey will be open until March 3 and can be found by clicking here.
