The provinces Special Investigations Unit has been called in after the body of a 29 year old man was recovered from the Sydenham River in Wallaceburg Wednesday morning.

Chatham-Kent police responded to a call about 2 suspicious people on Wallace Street about 6 pm Tuesday.

Police approached, and a man and a woman fled, and jumped into the river.

The woman swam to shore, but the man did not surface.

Emergency officials worked over night to find him and recovered the body about 10:40 am.

Two investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case, and a post mortem will take place in London on Thursday.
