Chatham-Kent Police have identified the suspicious van involved in a report to police last week as legitimate contract workers providing burial line services in the area.
Last Thursday afternoon, police say a white van bearing Ontario license plates BD 69460 pulled up to a home in Chatham, where two men walked into the backyard and began talking to a young girl who was outside doing homework.
Police say the two men asked the girl about her family’s internet and fibre optics, then left when the girl called a family member and took a picture of their van. Authorities say that the men made no attempt to lure the girl away from her home or make physical contact.
Through investigation, police identified the van and spoke with the general manager, who advised that they were contracted to provide burial line services in the area. Police add that their crews will be spoken to in an effort to avoid any further public safety concerns.
