The Ministry of Environment has been notified following a railroad tie fire in Wallaceburg.
Fire fighters were called to Running Creek Road shortly before 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon with reports of large flames seen in the area.
Crews arrived to find five-foot flames and black smoke coming from the tracks over the creek. Officials say a tanker shuttle was established, and portable pumps were operated.
Officials warned neighbouring homeowners about toxic smoke in the area, but say that warning has since been lifted.
There’s no word at this point on what sparked the blaze.
