Updates Coming to Wallaceburg?

The last council meeting of 2018 promises to involve some heavy lifting.

Slated for discussion are two big projects in Wallaceburg.

A little more than $1.8-million for arena renovations and more than $5-million for the Lord Selkirk Bridge.

The province will be kicking in $3-million for the bridge rehabilitation.

The plan is to have in operation of at least one span by May 1st for Boat traffic, and the total project must be completed come the end of August.

The span sees more than 19,000 vehicles pass over it every day, and has been under a load limit rating for more than two years.

Meantime, if you’d like to discuss the council agenda with the two Ward Five reps, they’ll be meeting with constituents again today.

Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall will be at Country Style Donuts on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg today from 9 until 10, going over various issues to be discussed around the horseshoe Monday night, and any other concerns local residents may have.

The two have said they plan to hold these little meet-and-greets in the community the week before every regular meeting.
