Upgrades Coming to Local Hospitals

Upgrades are coming to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance thanks to some provincial funding.

CEO Lori Marshall says the Chatham and Wallaceburg sites will share in $1.8 million from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund.

“In Wallaceburg, some of the key pieces there are asbestos abatement, window replacement, and some PA system upgrades, making sure everybody can hear announcements when they’re required.”

In Chatham, the funding has been earmarked for upgrades to the operating room floor, new sterilization equipment, and fire systems, andĀ a de-humidification system

Money is distributed through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund each year, helping hospitals across the provinceĀ upgrade, repair, and maintain their facilities.

“This is a fund that’s been in place for a number of years,” Marshall says. “We, on an annual basis, identify the areas that we think would be priorities that would qualify for the fund and put those forward.”

Marshall says the funding must be spent by March 31st.
