Urology services are returning to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

CKHA CEO Lori Marshall and Board Chair Greg Aarssen.

CKHA Board Chair Greg Aarssen says after a hiatus, the service is being built into the upcoming hospital budget with a capital investment of $1.7 million.

“Urology left the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance a few years ago, patients requiring urology services have had to go outside of the community for that,” Aarssen says.

As it stands, most patients have had to travel to Bluewater Health in Sarnia for treatment for the last several years.

The CKHA is submitting a full plan to the LHIN, and will be recruiting urologists over the next year.

It’s hoped to have the revitalized department up and running by Spring 2020.
