Snowbirds preparing to head south for the winter are raring to go as the US border reopens to Canadian travelers today.
Several social media posts over the weekend showed lineups of trailers and RVs in both Sarnia and Windsor, ready to hit the road.
Effective today, all ports of entry into the U.S. will allow non-essential travellers if they are fully vaccinated.
A digital or print version of a vaccine certificate will be accepted, and while the US does not require a negative test to cross the border, the same does not apply coming back to Canada. You’ll need to have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of returning north of the border – rapid antigen tests don’t apply.
The Ambassador and Blue Water Bridges are expected to be packed today, however the Walpole Island ferry won’t be running this week.
