Chatham-Kent’s mass vaccination clinic is going to be up and running once again today. Public Health shut things down over the weekend after running out of vaccine.
This week, the clinic is adding new priority groups:
- First Nation, Inuit, Metis and Urban Indigenous residents and their immediate household members aged 16+
• Adult recipients of chronic home care (and able to attend appointment at Bradley Centre Clinic)
• Residents who are turning 80 in 2021 (born in 1941 or before)
• “High Priority” health care workers; (more details here: https://bit.ly/3cho3pc)
The call centre is open from 9:30 to 4 each day to book an appointment, call 519-351-1010. Residents are asked to call and leave a message, and public health staff will return your call to book an appointment time; staff will be returning calls between 8:30 am and 8:30 pm.
Meantime, more details are being released about two new outbreaks of COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Two cases have been identified in the dialysis unit where one patient and one staff member have tested positive; and three more, a patient and two staff members connected to lab services at the Chatham hospital.
CKHA Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness are working closely with CK Public Health on the contact tracing process for impacted staff and patients. Until further notice the hospital will be restricting visitors and Care Partners to the inpatient Surgical Unit – care partners in other areas of the hospital remain unchanged.
And the Lambton-Kent District School Board has confirmed a staff member at Wallaceburg District Secondary School has tested positive for COVID-19 as well. The board and public health are working together and are reaching out to anyone who has been in close contact with the individual. The school remains open.
