With an influx of COVID vaccine expected to arrive in Ontario this week, the province is speeding up its plans to get more shots into arms.

Starting at 8 o’clock tomorrow morning, anyone born in 2003 or earlier will be able to book their first shot. The province expanded eligibility to include those 18 and older earlier this month, but only in COVID hot-spots. The Ontario-wide expansion wasn’t expected to happen for another two weeks.

The province is expecting 2.2 million doses of vaccine to arrive this week.

Meantime, Public Health will be running family-friendly clinics during the weeks of June 14th and the 21st to vaccinate those between the ages of 12 and 17, along with their family members.

Over 7.2 million vaccine doses have been administered across the province. In Chatham-Kent, Public Health and its partners have delivered 41,493 total shots.

Two upcoming mobile clinics in Wallaceburg on May 21st and Blenheim on the 30th are already completely booked.
