There’s been another dip in Chatham-Kent’s COVID numbers. Public Health is reporting one new case today and three recoveries, lowering the total active caseload to 11.

There is now one local resident being treated for the virus at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Today’s numbers from Public Health were slightly delayed due to maintenance of the agency’s information system.

Meantime, the vaccination process continues across Chatham-Kent, focusing on Phase 1 of the roll-out plan.

Outreach teams are working on the municipality’s retirement home residents and the mass vaccination clinic is focusing on high-risk health care workers, long term care staff and essential caregivers, and those over 80 in the community.

Over 100 front line staff at Community Living Wallaceburg got their first dose of the vaccine this week as well.

It’s hoped the second half of phase 1, including residents 80 years and over, will be finished in the next two weeks, but health Alliance CEO Lori Marshall says everything depends on supply.

“It will essentially roll-out with respect to the different age groups, we’ll work through the priorities as quickly as we can. As soon as we get vaccine, we’re on it.”
