A local man is facing an arson charge after a vehicle was set on fire in Chatham
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said emergency crews were called to a St. George Street home for the vehicle fire at around 11 p.m. on Monday.
Authorities said officers reviewed surveillance footage and collected witness statements at the scene and quickly identified a suspect.
Police also learned that the accused was bound by release conditions prohibiting him from being near the occupant of the home, from being at the home, and from possessing any weapons.
The 30-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and is now charged with arson and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
