Charges have been laid after a vehicle break-in was thwarted by the owner.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to the theft in progress on Sunday at an unknown location in Dresden.
Authorities said the would-be thief had entered the vehicle but was confronted by the owner. While the owner was assaulted during the incident, the suspect was detained until officers could arrive.
The 50-year-old accused was arrested and charged. He has since been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
