
A Wallaceburg man has been charged following a vicious assault that left one person with injuries.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the victim was in his vehicle in Wallaceburg shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, when a verbal dispute began after he was approached by several people. When the victim stepped out of his vehicle, one of the other individuals charged him and punched him several times. The attacker continued to strike the victim while he was on the ground and threatened to kill him.
The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was able to escape to a nearby apartment complex on Wallace Street where he called police.
Using video surveillance footage from the area, officers were able to identify a suspect who was located riding his bike at around 8:30 p.m. The 34-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and is now charged with aggravated assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
