Violating Release Conditions Leads To Arrest

A Chatham-Kent man accused of causing property damage is back in police custody after violating the terms of his release.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the 40-year-old accused was first arrested back on October 16, 2025, following a fight between two men on King Street East in Chatham. One of the men was thrown over the top of a vehicle, causing damage to the passenger side panel.

The accused was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and released with a condition that required him to report to police headquarters each Saturday. However, a warrant was issued for his arrest when he allegedly failed to attend.

The 40-year-old man was located at the intersection of Centre Street and School Street in Chatham on Tuesday and arrested. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
