The Thames Art Gallery in Chatham is looking for volunteers to help spread their love of art through the community.
It’s part of a project called Spark Joy!, a four-week online art series for seniors.
A welcome event is being held Wednesday, June 19 from 2-4pm to learn more about the project and meet the team involved in putting it together, including art therapist Krista Schneider and ceramicist Andrea Vuletin.
Volunteers will learn to develop and create art activities for a range of audiences, join group sessions to socialize, research, and develop gallery tours that enhance visitor experience. Volunteers will also create art appreciation videos along with art kits for participants in the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent’s day programs in Wallaceburg and Chatham.
The Spark Joy! project is funding through the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors program.
