Volunteers Sought To Develop, Operate Blenheim Dog Park

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for volunteers for the development of a possible off-leash dog park in Blenheim.

The municipality is inviting interested community members to form a committee, which would raise funds and maintain the dog off-leash recreation area.

The committee would be made up of 10-15 members from the community who are 18 or older.

According to the municipality, around $40,000 would need to be raised to get the project off the ground.

Council has pre-approved municipal land near Little Street South and Snow Avenue for the proposed park

Those who would like to join the committee are encouraged to submit an expression of interest on the Lets Talk Chatham-Kent website before 4:30 p.m. on May 26.

There are currently two off-lease dog parks in Chatham-Kent — Happy Tails Off-Leash Dog Park in Wallaceburg and John Waddell Dog Park in Chatham. Another location has been proposed in Dresden and is pending council designation and development.
