Walk For Alzheimer’s Expands Across CK

A fundraiser in support of area residents living with dementia is growing.

The annual Walk for Alzheimer’s will be taking place in communities across Chatham-Kent throughout the month of May.

The last two years has seen the walk held virtually with participants walking on their own time.

Each week in May, the Alzheimer Society will be holding events in a different community – Tilbury, Blenheim, Wallaceburg, and Chatham, with a memorial garden on display honouring loved ones living with dementia and those who have been lost to the disease.

Back by popular demand is the ASCK scavenger hunt, being held the weekend of May 28th and 29th. Participants will be asked to take pictures of blue “treasures”  across the city of Chatham for the “Paint the Town Blue” event, with various prizes up for grabs.

Last year’s walk and scavenger hunt brought in $42,000, for the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent.

This year’s fundraising goal is $55,000 to support a variety of programs and services offered to more than 1000 clients and their families across Chatham-Kent.
