Final figures are still being tallied, but the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent is hailing its largest annual fundraiser a success.

The Walk for Alzheimer’s was held during the month of May with four events across Chatham-Kent – weekly Walk Wednesdays in Tilbury, Blenheim, and Wallaceburg, and the grand finale event at Kingston Park in Chatham on May 27.

So far, the event has raised over $48,000 with donations still coming in.

The Dawn Butler Memorial Award for top fundraiser went to Tracy B, with Memory Lame named the top fundraising team.

Officials say the final fundraising total will be announced in the fall.

All funds raised at the Walk for Alzheimer’s stay in Chatham-Kent and support the 1000+ clients and care partners that ASCK serves every year. Donations will ensure they have access to vital programs and services such as the Day Program, In-Home Respite Care, First Link Care Navigation and Education Programs.
