Local residents will be lacing up their running shoes this spring in support of Chatham-Kent families living with dementia.

As the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent celebrates its 40th anniversary, the annual Walk for Alzheimer’s is set to take place Saturday, May 30 at Kingston Park in Chatham. This year’s event will include live music, a barbecue, petting farm, and other family-friendly activities.

Awards and prizes will be offered again to the Top Individual, Team, and Retirement/Long-Term Care Home Fundraisers.

Other fundraising initiatives include a 50/50 draw, proceeds from bingo throughout the month of May at Riverview Gaming Centre in Chatham, and a pint-sized quiz night at Red Barn Brewing Company on May 26.

The Alzheimer’s Society has set its fundraising goal at $75,000 to meet the increasing demand for services. All proceeds stay in Chatham-Kent and support those affected by dementia, including care partners and family members.
