Wallaceburg’s local business network has eliminated one of its leadership positions amid financial issues.

The Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce announced that it has eliminated the position of executive director for the time being, as the chamber “works toward long-term sustainability and strategic transition.”

Chamber officials cited “financial constraints,” but further explanation about the change was not provided.

While the decision was not made lightly, the chamber said the remaining leadership remains committed to supporting, advocating for, and connecting the local business community.

“Serving in this role has been an incredibly meaningful experience. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with so many passionate business owners, community leaders, organizations, and members throughout my time with the chamber,” said outgoing Executive Director Emma King in a statement. “The chamber has always been rooted in the strength and resilience of our local businesses, and I remain confident in the future ahead.”

Moving forward, the organization will operate under the guidance of a transitional board led by Chamber President Chris Glassford and Vice President Karen DeBergh.
