The Wallaceburg Concert Band takes the stage tonight, for the very first time.

The newly minted 60-piece ensemble takes the stage at the Oaks Retirement Village to perform for residents and their families.

Spokesperson Mark Aarssen says Dave Babbitt is directing, and has something special in mind.

“Dave has put together about 10 numbers and a little treat with a saxophone quartet and a flute trio,” says Aarssen. “It’s so big we can’t bring everybody, we can only fit 40 pieces, we have a full row of trombones, and flutes, and clarinets.”

Aarssen says the band plans on having a busy inaugural year, and is even learning some Star Wars music.
