The Sydenham Curling Club has received a financial boost to support repairs and upgrades for the facility.
Progressive Ford in Wallaceburg presented the club with a cheque for $25,000 on Friday.
Jered Sweet, a managing partner at the dealership, said they saw it as an opportunity to help in the local community.
“I firsthand see the work involved in keeping the place open and keeping the place affordable for people to curl and play pickleball,” he said. “We like to give back to the community whenever possible.”
Club President Tony Metayer said the funds will be used to support the facility’s $200,000 capital project.
“We’re currently fundraising to get a new roof on and maybe purchase some new curling rocks, and just give our building some love that it needs,” he said. “It’s a big roof, it’s a big building, so it’s a fairly large expense to cover.”
The recent donation brings the total funds raised for the curling club to $50,000.
