Another Wallaceburg business has fallen victim to COVID-19.

New Vision Optical in downtown Wallaceburg is closed because of COVID-19. The owners posted on social media last night saying that Public Health has been given a customer list and anyone who might be considered a close contact will be notified.

“Based on the nature of our business, there isn’t any realistic way to service our customers “from a distance”. From our understanding Public Health is notifying everyone on the list and asking that they self-isolate,” co-owner Moira Eggett says in a post on social media. “We take pride in our sanitizing/sterilizing practices and managed to make it thru the first wave with no incidence! This time around with even more business constraints we were not considered virus exempt.”

Meantime, Chatham-Kent Public Health continues to keep tabs on the Wallaceburg Walmart store after declaring an outbreak of COVID-19 late last week.

As of the last update on Friday, the company says five staff members have tested positive. While public health says contact tracing has NOT confirmed that transmission is happening within the store, workplace transmission can’t be ruled out as the cases could have shared work areas.
