Wallaceburg Man Facing Firearm-Related Charges

A Wallaceburg man is facing weapon charges following a traffic stop in Tilbury.

The Ontario Provincial Police said officers with the Street Crimes, Canine, and Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement units executed a search warrant on July 7 following a traffic stop in Tilbury.

Authorities have not released information about when the traffic stop took place or where the search warrant was served.

A 32-year-old Wallaceburg man has since been arrested and is now charged with possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, carrying a concealed prohibited device or ammunition, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, resisting a peace officer, and driving while prohibited.

The accused was remanded into custody pending his next court appearance.
