Wallaceburg Shines at Business Excellence Awards

It was a night for Wallaceburg’s business community to shine.

The Wallaceburg and District Chamber of Commerce handed out its annual Business Excellence Awards Friday night at the CBD Club.

The Wallaceburg Farmers Market took home the Agriculture Achievement award, honouring those who promote and strengthen local agriculture.

Paul Vannatto won the Technology Award for leveraging technology to enhance or create products and services, expand market opportunities, and make a positive impact in the community.

Kaelyn Gregory of the Wallaceburg and District Museum was given the Young Professional Award for those 35 and under who positively impact their field and community.

The Woman in Business award went to Heather Perkin from Calluna Osteopathy. The award honors women in Wallaceburg or North Kent who are self-employed or business owners, demonstrating excellence in their field, positively impacting their profession, and contributing to the community.

Katie Verbeek of Jackz Oasis Day Spa was named Entrepreneur of the Year, Business of the Year was given to Lambton Conveyor Limited, and Diana Cornelis was named Volunteer of the Year.

This year’s Chip Gordon Citizen of the Year went to Gert McClure for her years of dedication to community, compassion, and volunteerism.

Several award winners were announced in advance of Friday’s celebration. Life skills trainer Erin Dickinson is taking home the Building Bridges Award for fostering better relationships with local First Nations communities; PuroClean Restoration has been named to the Industrial Achievement Award; Marc Leduc and Rob Lozon from Waste Connections Canada are being honoured with the Community Inclusion Award; and Adam Childs will be given the Wallaceburg BIA Award, recognizing contributions to the vitality of downtown Wallaceburg.
