Wallaceburg Soup Kitchen Helping 500+

After just two days of operation, the Childs family soup kitchen in Wallaceburg is helping feed more than 500 people.

Mark Childs of The Black Goose says the delivery-style soup kitchen assisted 512 local residents in need throughout Wallaceburg, Dresden, Port Lambton and Walpole Island on Friday.

“We orignally anticipated cap of about 300 but the need is a whole lot greater right now,” said Childs.

Childs adds that the work could not be complete without the helpful small army of volunteers who have jumped at the chance to help.

“It’s a feel good project,” says Childs. “When our volunteers deliver, there are some very thankful people. We feel good delivering it, and it’s a nice feeling to see those people in need to get a little bit of help. We have a great crew of volunteers.”

The soup kitchen is supplying families with soup and an Italian-style loaf of bread on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
