The draft concept’s proposed land use plan is structured around five activity areas (A, B,
C, D, and E) focused on cultural, heritage, commercial, social, and recreational uses.

A draft plan to spruce up Wallaceburg’s south side will be up for discussion at the Civic Centre on Monday.

An official plan amendment – or OPA – will be the focus of an open house in the main floor atrium Monday afternoon from 4 until 5:30, followed by a presentation to municipal council during the regular meeting Monday night.

Highlights of the OPA include five ‘activity areas’ including a community park along the waterfront; an accessible, pedestrian-oriented commercial space; a public community facility which could also be used for arts and culture; and a new splashpad.

The draft plan was formulated using public feedback from an open house, workshop, and online survey held earlier this year.

Further public hearings will be held in the fall.
