A Wallaceburg woman has now been charged after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Walpole Island earlier this year.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Tecumseh Road between Chiefs Road and Arena Road on January 20. The 29-year-old Walpole Island resident was rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, police announced on Monday that a 34-year-old Wallaceburg woman is now charged with failing to stop at a collision resulting in death.

She was later released from custody and will answer the charge in court on June 11.
