A Wallaceburg woman accused of organizing a protest against COVID restrictions will stand trial next fall.

The one-day trial for Laura Myers is slated to be held October 17th, nearly two years since the November 2020 protest in Tecumseh Park and subsequent march through Chatham’s downtown.

Myers is accused of organizing the rally, which drew over 100 people, which authorities say went against the Reopening Ontario Act which at the time limited outdoor gatherings to 25 people to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

If convicted, Myers could face fines ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 and up to a year behind bars.
