A Wallaceburg short story writer has now been recognized nationally, not once but three times.
John Gardiner’s new book, Life In the Deep End, has now been nominated for the Governor General’s Award, the Giller Prize, and the Trillium Book Award.
“There’s no doubt I’m pretty excited to have been nominated for all three of these awards,” Gardiner said in a news release. “The new book is doing well, and people seem to really like it.”
After nearly 40 years of looking for a publisher, Gardiner’s novel of emotionally-charged short stories was picked up by Manor House Publishing.
“I’ve been looking for a publisher for most of my writing life,” he said. “It’s very rewarding to feel your work is finally reaching out into the public domain.”
More recently, Life In the Deep End has been listed on Amazon in the Canadian short stories category for the last several weeks, gaining several positive reviews.
The novel is currently available on Amazon.ca or at Turns and Tales Book Store in downtown Chatham.
