Charges have been laid after a vehicle was driven into a ditch on Walpole Island First Nation.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police and the Walpole Island Police Service responded to a single-vehicle crash where a vehicle had entered a ditch on High Banks Park Road and River Road North shortly before 10 p.m. on March 6.

No injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, a 21-year-old Walpole Island man has now been charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit, and dangerous driving. He was also issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

The accused has since been released from custody and will answer the charges in court next month.
