
A Walpole Island entrepreneur is making waves in Canada’s business industry.
Matthew Nahdee has been named one of Canada’s Trailblazers in the prestigious 2025 Business Elite “40 Under 40” awards, honouring outstanding young leaders who have made significant contributions to their industries and communities.
Nahdee (also known as First Light After Dark Man/Biidoan Wazizi Nini) is an entrepreneur, advocate, and community leader whose influence spans business, governance, cultural preservation, and social impact.
Nahdee is a graduate of Western Law and Osgoode Hall Law School’s Indigenous Intensive Program in Aboriginal Lands, Resources, and Governments. deepening his commitment to Indigenous empowerment and community advancement.
He has served as Executive Director of the Can-Am Indian Friendship Centre and currently sits on the Board of Directors for Pow Wow Pitch, supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs. He is also one of the co-owners of the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers IBL franchise, and is actively involved with the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce and Family Services Kent.
The annual “40 Under 40” Gala, recognized as one of the most distinguished business events in Canada, will be held in Toronto on Thursday, July 10.
