The Walpole Island Ferry has set sail for the first time in nearly 20 months.
The service was grounded at the start of the pandemic when the border was closed, but is now finally able to resume trips to Algonac, Michigan.
Officials say the onus will be on travelers to understand and follow all COVID precautions and travel requirements.
Starting November 30th, Canadian rules requiring a COVID test to return to the country are being dropped for those taking short trips States-side, however anyone who will be in the US for more than 72 hours will still need to provide a negative test.
The Walpole Island Ferry will be running on a trial basis today through Sunday, 9am to 5pm each day.
