Walpole Island Ferry Service Set to Resume April 1

Some good news for those who travel across to the US – the Walpole Island Ferry will soon be setting sail once again.

With the lifting of more COVID travel restrictions, the ferry between Walpole Island and Algonac, Michigan will begin running April 1st.

However, officials warn the St Clair River can experience fog and high winds, and the service will only run when conditions are safe.

After being closed because of the pandemic in March, 2020, the ferry resumed running briefly over the US Thanksgiving weekend, but was shut down again by border restrictions.

The onus remains on travellers to know current requirements to enter Canada and will have to follow Health Canada and Canada Border Service Agency regulations.

A full schedule has yet to be announced.
