Walpole Island Members Heading to the Polls

Members of the Bkejwanong First Nations on Walpole Island are preparing to head to elect a new Chief and council.

Incumbent Charles Sampson is facing six other candidates for the Chief’s seat. There are 12 council positions up for grabs with 27 candidates in the running.

Voting will run from 9am to 8pm on Saturday at the Walpole Island First Nation governance building.

First Nations elections are held every 2 years, unlike elections for their Federal, Province or Municipal counterparts.
