Walpole Island playwright and performer Joelle Peters has received some national recognition.
Tara Beagan was named the 2020 laureate of the Siminovitch Prize, which recognizes excellence in theatre and the importance of mentoring upcoming playwrights.
Annual winners get to pick a protégé and Beagan picked Peters.
The Siminovitch Prize is called one of the largest and most prestigious prizes for theatre in Canada.
The honour comes with a $25,000 prize for Peters, who is a Wallaceburg District Secondary School graduate.
