Walpole Island and provincial police are currently involved in a stand-off on Walpole Island.
Police were called to a residence on Firehall Rd. between Library Rd. and Dewagan Lane around 1 am this morning.
Two men allegedly broke into the home and assaulted the resident. One man fled the scene and was arrested, the other barricaded himself in the house.
The Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and K-9 unit were requested and dispatched to attend and assist Walpole Island Police Service.
Residents are being asked to steer clear of the area.
