The theft of a purse has led to the arrest of a Chatham woman who was wanted for using stolen credit cards.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called by a woman whose purse had been stolen on Riverview Drive in Chatham, shortly before 1:40 p.m. on Saturday.
Authorities later discovered a series of unauthorized credit card transactions, which led officers to a suspect who was arrested.
As a result, a 28-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000. The woman was also wanted on four outstanding warrants for two counts of fraud under $5,000 and two counts of using a stolen credit card.
She has since been released with a court date scheduled for later this week.
