Ward 4 (North West Kent) – 1 councillor position

John Cummings

I’m running to represent Ward 4 with a focus on action, not talk. Our communities have different needs, and they deserve practical leadership that delivers results. I will be a strong, consistent voice at council—listening to residents, speaking up for their concerns, and working to make sure they are addressed.

My priorities are fiscal responsibility, infrastructure, housing, and improving how we work together to get results.

That starts with responsible government, making sure every dollar is spent wisely and delivers value for taxpayers. We need to maintain and improve our core infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and culverts.

I’m also focused on the challenges around homelessness, mental health, addiction, and the rising cost of housing. These are complex issues that require practical solutions and coordination across all levels of society and government.

Equally important is how we work together. I will focus on strong collaboration with council, administration, and staff, and on building meaningful relationships with upper levels of government to bring resources and solutions back to Chatham-Kent.

At the end of the day, it’s about getting results, through responsible decisions, better coordination, and a clear focus on the issues that matter most to residents.

I bring a strong background in project planning, problem-solving, and working with people to get results. Through my professional experience, I’ve developed the ability to manage complex issues, balance budgets, and make practical decisions that deliver value.

I understand how to work with council, staff, and stakeholders to move projects forward and get things done. I’m a strong communicator who believes in transparency and accountability. Most importantly, I’m grounded in this community.

I understand the challenges residents face and will represent them with a focus on results and common sense.

This isn’t just another campaign for me it’s personal.

As a cancer survivor, I’ve been given a second chance at life. It changed how I see everything. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and that’s exactly why I believe we need to take action today.

I’m a proud grandfather and like so many of you I care deeply about the kind of community we’re building for the next generation. I want a stronger, safer, more connected Chatham-Kent a place where people feel proud to call home again.

I believe in honesty, integrity, and accountability. You deserve leadership that listens, follows through, and always puts people first.

My priorities are simple and grounded in what matters most:
• Listening first — working with residents, not above them
• Supporting local businesses and encouraging growth in our community
• Safer neighborhoods for our families and future generations
• Responsible decision-making with your tax dollars
• Restoring community pride and connection across Chatham-Kent

I will also move to form a committee with representation from every ward. This will give non-elected residents a voice in shaping recommendations to Council and ensure our decisions reflect the people we serve.

I won’t make promises I can’t guarantee but I will promise to work hard, stay accountable, and collaborate with others to move our community forward.

I’ve stepped up before and I’m stepping up again with a new perspective and a clear purpose: to help bring Chatham-Kent back to what makes it great.

Stronger today. Better tomorrow.

I’d be honored to have your support in Ward 4.
