WDSS student Raymond Yang is one of just 17 people across the country that will get to experience Vimy Ridge this April.
He is headed to Europe this spring as part of the Vimy Ridge Centennial. The trip is part of the Vimy Pilgrimage Award he received.
Yang says it’s part of an effort to preserve Canada’s First World War history.
“The Vimy Pilgrimage Award is awarded to youth who have made outstanding contributions to their community. In your motivational letter, you detail what you’ve done to serve your community and your peers, and to a greater extent your country.”
Yang will get to tour a number of battlefields, cemeteries and memorial sites as part of his trip.
