A new code is being tested at the Chatham Site of the Health Alliance this evening.
CEO Lori Marshall says Code Silver is called if someone at the hospital has a weapon, and they want to make sure they are ready to handle that situation.
“Code silver is a newer code for hospitals and it relates to if there’s an individual with a weapon and what do we do in those instances? So it’s important to us to practice codes all the time,” says Marshall. “So some of you may have been in the hospital when there’s a code red drill, that’s the most frequent one we’re doing all the time. Particularly when you have a new code it’s important that you practice it and do it in a way that we can learn from it.”
Marshall says the exercise will be held from 5-7pm tonight and shouldn’t affect patients or visitors.
They are asking, however, that visitors use the main entrance facing Grand Ave as the other entrances and exits will be closed off during the exercise.
