With new ownership of the Wednesday Market, just east of Chatham, come a new vision.
General Manager Bill Myer says there will be a new selection of products.
“Everybody knows the Wednesday market, pretty soon with our change of hours and days they’ll know it as the Wednesday to Wednesday market, save for Sunday. We’re bringing in two very specific styles of business. One is the lumber and hardware business and the grocery area,” says Myer. “We’re picking and choosing the type of vendors we want to house in the market. A lot of the vendors we’ve parted company with because their particular product or mindset wasn’t in line with what we have in mind. We’ve brought in vendors that see the future more in line with what we do and provide product and service for the shopper that enhances the market’s reputation.”
The new owners are also spending as much as $700,000 to renovate the Longwoods Road facility.
Starting June 1st, the Wednesday Market will be open on Saturdays as well, and by August they’re hoping to expand to run six days a week, becoming the Wednesday-to-Wednesday Market.
