The West Nile virus has once again been detected in Chatham-Kent.
Officials with CK Public Health say they have received laboratory confirmation that mosquitoes collected from a trap in Tilbury on September 15 have tested positive for the Virus.
While this is the first positive mosquito pool from this trap, the health unit reported the virus had also been found in Dresden last month.
No human cases of the virus have been reported.
The health unit encourages everyone to protect themselves from mosquito bites by using insect repellent containing DEET, as well as wearing light-coloured clothing, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks.
All local residents are also asked to eliminate sources of standing water on their property to prevent mosquito breeding.
