Three Chatham-Kent fire stations responded to a blaze early Saturday morning on the 4th line of Wheatley.
The fire at a farm house broke out about 2 am, and by the time fire fighters arrived the home was fully involved, and on the verge of collapse.
Crews were able to keep the flames away from barns and equipment. There were no injuries and the damage estimate is 350,000 dollars.
In the meantime, officials are reminding anyone planning to use portable electric space heaters, make sure to keep the heater at least 3 feet (1 metre) away from anything that can burn, including people.
Use a heater with an auto shut-off if it tips over and always turn off and unplug heaters when leaving the house or going to bed.
