High praise for a local group and its efforts to help revitalize the community of Wheatley.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent and the Wheatley Task Force have been named a finalist for this year’s Economic Development Ontario Awards of Excellence. The nomination comes in the Planning and Strategic Development – Urban category for the Healing the Heart of Wheatley: A Post-Disaster Community Action Plan.
Officials say the nomination reflects the strength, resilience, and leadership shown by the community of Wheatley throughout recovery and renewal efforts in the wake of the 2021 gas explosion.
A special presentation will be made before Chatham-Kent council in January to provide more details on the project.
The EDCO Presidents Dinner and Awards Ceremony will be held in Toronto on February 4th.
