Time is running out for area farmers to have their say on the province’s Wildlife Damage Compensation Program.

The government is asking industry members to complete a short online survey, providing input on the program intended to support farmers who’ve lost livestock to predators.

“We heard from farmers that this program was no longer working for them and we are moving forward to address their concerns,” says Ernie Hardeman, Ontario’s Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. “This is an opportunity for those affected by the program to provide their input on how we can remove red tape and improve program design.”

Some of the topics include evidence standards used to demonstrate wildlife predation, resources and tools to assist farmers and municipalities, and the appeals process.

The deadline for input is November 21st – which is this Wednesday.
