As winds pick up, so does the risk of flooding and erosion along the Lake Erie shoreline.
Officials with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority say winds gusting to 40 kilometres an hour are expected to last overnight with the possibility of even stronger gusts tomorrow before dying off in the evening.
The forecast is currently calling for waves up to 1.5 metres along the shoreline.
Due to high lake levels, there is a risk that wave action could damage shoreline protection works and cause erosion all along the Lake Erie shoreline in Chatham-Kent and Elgin County, including along the high bluff areas.
There is also a strong risk of flooding along Erie Shore Drive over the next few days.
