The lakes are going to be rough today, and both conservation authorities are warning residents.

Waves of between 1m and 1.5m could hammer the shorelines of Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie over the next few days, driven by gusty winds of up to 80km an hour.

Depending on which way that wind comes from will determine which areas get hardest hit.

Both the SRCA and the LTVCA are issuing watches for the next few days and into the weekend.

Shoreline erosion and flooding is expected in low lying areas.
